Explorer Scouts
Explorer Scout Unit 14 – 18 years
Explorers is the fourth Scouting section for young people aged 14-18. Unlike Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts which are run by Groups, Explorers is run at a District Level.
Our Scout Troop feeds into the District Explorer Scout Unit(s) at the age of 14. We have a working link with the Eastbourne Explorer Group which meets at the same location as we do on a Monday night term time 7.30pm till 9pm. All young people of this age are a member of at least one unit but some maybe a member of two.
Some Explorer Scouts choose to only be a Young Leader, volunteering their time to a Scout Group, Whilst others choose to only be part of a regular unit and then, there are several who do both.
This is one of the many reasons that makes being an Explorer Scout unlike all the other sections.
Explorers take part in more adventurous activities, and get much more involved in the running of the unit; contributing programme ideas, organising unit evenings & camps. As such, although these are the regular meetings times these often change.
Explorers is an opportunity to make new friends, to take part in activities you may not have tried before, and to further develop your scouting skills. And when you turn 18 you can join the Scout Network!
