Kayaking at Tees Barrage

Date: 24th Aug 2017 Author: Richard Smith

On Sunday 20th August, the Cubs and Scouts Boarded Barney the Bus and set off for The Tees Barrage Water Centre at Stockton for an afternoon of kayaking.  Once we arrived at the centre our District Commissioner surprised us with a visit and to surprise our Cub Leader George with his Wood badge!  The wood badge is presented to Leaders once they have completed all their training so this was quite a surprise and well earned by George!

The Cubs and Scouts then changed into Wet Suits and spent the afternoon learning the basics of Kayaking and then had some free time at the end to jump in the river and have a splash!  Everyone enjoyed themselves including the leaders and can’t wait to visit again.

We also surprised 2 of our cubs Mathew and Jacob with the top award ‘Chief Scouts Silver Award’ as they have both earned this so a very well done to them for this great achievement.
