Pumping Station

Date: 23rd Jul 2019 Author: Richard Smith

The Cubs visited the Tees Cottage Pumping station in Darlington on Wednesday 17th July.  They had a look around the pumping station learning how the beam engines and gas pumps worked and how these great machines took water from the river Tees for filtration and then made drinkable ready for the people of Darlington and Teesside.  The site was large and has some interesting equipment some of which are the only items left running in the world!
