Sanctuary 2017

Date: 11th Nov 2017 Author: Richard Smith

7th Scouts took part in the annual Sanctuary event organised by 1st Framwellgate Scout Group.  It is the 5th year they have took part and as always, this year was just as muddy, hard and rewarding as all the rest.  The Scouts met at Usher College County Durham for the Kit Check Rules and last minute planning.  Then they were all put on coaches and taken to a secret drop off point further in the County and then the Game begins! The Scouts then have 8 hours to get back to Usher College and claim sanctuary.  While they are hiking, hiding & running to get to sanctuary! teams of leaders are hunting them down!!

The team with the best times and least catches are declared the Winners! It’s a battle of wit cunning and stealth between the Leaders and Scouts and is always a very enjoyable day.

Put your phone down and what are you left with? Just teamwork, courage and the skills to succeed.’
