Sausage Hike

Date: 23rd Apr 2019 Author: Richard Smith

The Groups Annual Sausage Hike took place on Good Friday. Around 70 members parents and young people walked to the site from Staindrop.  Once we arrived, we welcomed everyone and did flag break then packed lunch.

After dinner it was parent’s vs young people on the Easter egg hunt in the woods around 150 eggs were hidden but it was a clear win by the Beaver Cubs Scouts and visiting siblings. We Invested 4 Beavers and welcomed them into the family of Scouting.

We then took everyone on a tour of the site so that the parents and those who have never camped at the site can see what we have and the facilities available.

The day was rounded up with an obstacle course that included much more water than it was supposed to! Everyone had a great time and dried fast given the lovely weather.  We all had our sausages and marshmallows around the fire then headed back to Staindrop for home.

Put your phone down and what are you left with? Just teamwork, courage and the skills to succeed.’
