Scouts Mechanics Badge

Date: 14th Jan 2018 Author: Richard Smith

Saturday 13th January, 12 of our Scouts were off to 124 Recovery Company REME, 102 Battalion REME in Newton Aycliffe and met with other Scouts from Darlington District.  They were there to learn about the Mechanics Badge.

Once all Scouts and Leaders were passed security they met in the main hall and were given the instructions for the day.  Then split into groups they attended various stands and took part in practical sessions fixing engines and learning about the gearbox.  Then they all stopped for Dinner and a rest before completing the training and then sitting a short exam.  All Scouts passed with flying colours and gained the badge.  The badge was presented to them by the Commanding Officer.  All Scouts enjoyed the day learning new skills and working with the Army.

Put your phone down and what are you left with? Just teamwork, courage and the skills to succeed.’
