Scouts Sail Camp 2019

Date: 31st Jul 2019 Author: Richard Smith

The Scouts attended their annual Sail Camp at YMCA Lakeside on Lake Windermere. The Scouts arrived late and in the dark around 11pm had some supper and settled in for the night. Saturday morning everyone was up early and off for a cooked breakfast and then a full day of activities. The first activity was the King Swing where a Scout was strapped into a harness and the other Scouts pulled them up high. The Scout strapped into the harness then pulled a cord and swung from quite a height! The second activity was a team challenge course where Scouts had to navigate obstacles and get the whole team from one end to the other. The day was finished off with Ghyll Scrambling where the Scouts had to walk up a fast-flowing steep river and tackle waterfalls leaps of faith and underwater sections. Everyone had an amazing first day and after supper and campfire they were off to bed ready for Sunday.
Sunday the Scouts spent the morning Climbing and abseiling and the afternoon canoeing. Everyone had an amazing camp and said the centre was fantastic and food was amazing!
