To the Farm!
To the Farm, Cub Camp started wet! very wet, putting tents up on Friday night in the rain is not fun but must be done. Tents up, camp setup complete and rain stopped means fun time in the woods. As it got late everyone got warm around the campfire told some stories then supper and bed ready for the next day.
Saturday started with the traditional camp breakfast of sausages, eggy bread and beans a golden staple for any scout camp. Tent inspection done wash and teeth then some games in the wood before climbing aboard Barney the Bus and off for an adventure to Hall Hill Farm at Lanchester near Durham.
The cubs and leaders had a fantastic time petting all the animals from little chicks and lambs to hamsters and guinea pigs. They went on a tractor ride around the farm to see all the larger animals and fed the lambs, sheep and cattle.
The Cubs had a picnic dinner then back to the farm for a final explore and a play on the amazing outdoor play area. When it was time to leave everyone was sad to leave the animals but knew they would be well looked after.
Then off to Barnard Castle to check their eyes and have fish and chips for tea! After an explore around Barney eyes all ok back to camp for a night of games on the site and playing in the woods.
Sunday started with the usual breakfast this time with amazing eggy bread cooked by Martin. Tents down and site packed up ready for home. Then the cubs made their own fires and cooked some Smores built a bivvy before heading to broken scar for some playtime at the park.
